Cambodia Says: 10 Random Thoughts I Had in Cambodia

Like my previous post, this is another delayed post about my Cambodia trip last year. :D I could just forget about posting this here, but well... some experiences are really meant to be shared, or else it would be just forgotten... for good.

When I grow older, I also want to look back and easily remember stuff through blog entries and pictures. I already have an awful memory now. Who knows how bad it will get when I turn 70. :'(

Anyways, Cambodia was our second destination during our (me and my former officemate) Indochina Trip. I would love to narrate everything, but of course, this post will be just about some random thoughts and realizations I've had during that Cambodia Trip. And definitely, I'm featuring some pictures taken there.

This is Cambodia's wailing tree. This tree was used to hang a loudspeaker to drown the cries and moans of the victims during the time of Genocide in Cambodia (1975-1979).
This tree witnessed tragedy and was even used as an accessory to numerous crimes. Even so, ang pait niining kaagi wala nahimong babag arun sa pagpabilin niining malig.on nga gabarog. (Hooh. Lawuma ba)

The point is, the hardships in our life shouldn't stop us from growing in any aspects sa kinabuhi. Sa laktaw nga storya (🙄gi translate ra nq ang "the point is"), bahalag magkalisod basta naning lang jud ta. Love baya ta ni Lord. Laban lang!

The line saying "When a door closes, a window opens" remains a big confusion to me. So what if open ang window. An open window is still not an indication of a welcoming house/room/condo/apartment/boarding house/etc.

You can go on knocking doors until a door finally opens. Don't stop looking. Don't stop knocking.

Timan-i nga ang imong beauty, ginama in the image and likeness of God. Dili ginama aron pang-akyat bahay gang. You deserve an open door. If it's close, then maybe it's not the right door for you. Let's move on to the next door.

Friendship Goals kaayo ning duha ka Unggoy. A true friend accepts you for whoever you are, whatever your past, your looks, your weaknesses, whatever your bests and your flaws are. Treasure them.

In a world where mas close pa ang internet connection kaysa personal connections, let's treasure our friends for better or for worst. Pinangga ka ug dawat ka niya, apil pa imong kuto ug kaspa 😁.

"The Value of a Friend Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up."
- Ecc4:9-10

Stay rooted. Stay grounded. Roots are often unseen (well, except for this one and sa iyang mga silingan nga kahoy sa Angkor Wat... and mangroves?? Example lang na nga picture para mafeature ang beauty sa roots). Unseen or not, we are useless without it. When we are rooted on something we believe in or something we love, we'll realize our purpose and diha na kita mulabong ug mutubo. Without foundation, without roots, life becomes a never ending journey of asking why we exist.

Roots matter.
Mabalian, maputlan o masakitan,
mutubo gihapon tungod kay nangugat man.

The things we love doing (especially those that unleash our best potentials) are the things we are originally designed. These help us become the best versions of ourselves, God intended us to be.

Awesome things are meant to be shared. Sama aning pictura (ahemmm). We are a cloud of witness with a default mission of spreading love and positivity (hilabi na jud ang love ni Lord ).

A Father who died for His children
A classmate's courage to stand against cheating and bullying
A single mom's sacrifice to raise her kids
A missionary's heart for service
A songwriter's idea of love
A taho and balut vendor's secret to having a nice baritone voice
A supportive boyfriend sa nagpapicture nga girlfriend.

These stories are meant to be shared. Di lang ta taman sa tan.aw ba. 😅 (Ishare jud nq ni nga pic kay supportive kaayo si kuya sa modeling career ni ate sa Angkor Wat)

The bridge going to Angkor Wat is made of connected floating plastic bricks (ambot say tawag ana). Mabati gyud nimu ang sinayawan sa tulay, but having companions during the walk makes the experience well.

Companions (especially our dear friends) distract us from shaky external forces. It's actually relatable to real life experiences.

Ana pa ang Wonggoys, "Basta kuyog lang ta, way blema." 😁

Game, game, game?

Bagets? Teen? Adulting? Single? In a relationship? Married? Senior Citizen?

One day, when I get older that I can't even walk straight, I'll miss the energy I have today, sama sa akong kamingaw sa 9-yr old me who confidently delivered a poem about health while flexing my "niwang" arms.

Indeed, there's a season for everything. A time for everything and wherever you are, enjoy it.

Don't think about tax while playing your Barbie. Enjoy the innocence. Enjoy the peace. Sleep a lot. You'll miss as early as you turn 15.
If you're single, enjoy the freedom you have.
If you're married, do your best to be a good parent/partner.

Every season is a gift. Let's value that gift by making the most of our season. Sing a song. Write a story. Dance. Join Miss Universe. Serve in a Church. Be a friend. Pagtigum Uy. Be Grateful. Ay seg hugot.

Sa laktaw nga storya, don't worry. Easier said than done. 👉👉👉Bang! Bang! Bang! Igo tang tanan. Aww, di lang ko mangamong. Ako na lang!

In Matthew 6:25-26, it says,
"Do Not Worry “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"

Kung ang bird gani nga they neither sow nor reap, well provided gihapon both food and shelter, unsa na lang ka nga todo effort pa!.

Just A Thought: Mao guro makalupad ang bird kay free sila ug way baggage ginacarry🤔😇

This is heavy 🙆
Underneath this waterlily-covered lake are long buried remains of Genocide victims (1975-1979).

It's just amazing how God has programmed nature to give a picture of hope by creating beauty out of ashes. Indeed, in Revelations 21:5, it says
"Behold, I make all things new".

Salig ug laom lang ta ana mga igsoons.😊
