Five Things I Learned in Painting

I've always been in love with colors and the magic they bring when they become one in an artwork. But aside from the visual beauty it brings, painting also taught me some life lessons. This article aims to share five of the lessons that I've learned in my painting journey.

BE A BRUSH
You may look like one (slender body and long hair) but I'm not talking about how you look. 😂😂 I'm talking about having an ability like that of a brush. That is to spread whatever color is in it. Spread positivities. Spread love. Spread the color you have.

LEARN TO MIX
It doesn't only apply in mixing colors but also in how we interact with other people. Romans 12:16 says Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight.

CLEAN UP
Matutong mag-5S
Sort (Seiri) - Learn to organize not just your art materials but also the essentials in your life.
Set in order (Seiton) - Priorities over unnecesary ARTes. Learn to put order in life.

Shine/Sweep (Seiso) - As per my college department's mantra, "Do ordinary things extraordinarily well". If you can make simple and small things shine, all the more na makakapagpashine ka rin ng much bigger things.

Standardize (Seiketsu) - Set standards. Don't settle for anything less. You are not meant for second best.

Sustain/Self-discipline (Shitsuke) - Be still and define self-discipline. Alam mo na yan... explain to yourself na lang.

EXPLORE
Not because alam mo na magWatercolor, magpastel, mag.acrylic and other material stuff, titigil ka na. Explore other materials as well. Parang travel goals, career goals, life goals, relationship goals and other goals lang yan. Not because expert ka na with cooking Adobo, you'll only cook Adobo your whole life, spice it up more... learn other recipes, go to places, learn new things.

DON'T STOP
Go lang ng Go! Don't let any negative criticisms discourage you from pursuing your craft. Passion mo yan. Not because you fail once, stop ka na... failure is just a phase. Learning stage yan.
