Not by Sight by Jon Bloom

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Publishers: Crossway Books
Genre: Non-fiction, Christian, Inspirational.

OVERVIEW:

Trusting Jesus is hard. It requires following the unseen into an unknown, and believing Jesus's words over and against the threats we see or the fears we feel. Through the imaginative retelling of 35 Bible stories, Not by Sight gives us glimpses of what it means to walk by faith, counsel for how to trust God's promises more than our perceptions, and the way to find rest in the faithfulness of God.

MY THOUGHTS:

DISCLAIMER: This is not an ordinary meditation/devotional book.

NOT BY SIGHT is a 208 page devotional book that will inspire, share and even rebuke every Christian readers with its 35 imaginative retellings of bible stories. Jon Bloom shares God’s word through very creative retellings that are relatable to all readers.

I’ve bought this book last May during OMF’s May Sale. Being a book hoarder that I am, I think I bought about 20 books all in all and it was a heavy ride when I went home but 10 of those books, I gave to my CYA sisters in Iligan. I honestly haven’t read those remaining 10 books immediately because I was also thinking to save them as a gift for future celebrations. I didn’t even know when shall I read the others since they’re so many. I started with Craving Grace which I reviewed shortly during my Review Marathon post. The timing of that book was just so perfect. Among the 10, there’s also a Trilogy book which is about all things beautiful, God, Life and Community. Surprisingly, later this year, I was asked to serve and lead three new CYA members and this Trilogy were just so perfect to them. Indeed, things happen for a certain reason.

And now, with Jon Bloom’s NOT BY SIGHT, I’m just so inspired and blessed. Before reading this book, I prayed to God for guidance especially in the decisions and plans in my life. Reading this book kind of opened my eyes. Indeed, I should not just depend on my views but instead, I should believe in my faith. Letting go and letting God lead the way. With all these 35 creative and imaginative retellings, I was inspired, blessed, rebuked, corrected, reminded and loved.

For me, this is a 100% 5 Star book.
