Crazy Little Thing Called Love: Harder than Math 71

Suddenly, I just decided on posting a series where I’ll be telling crazy stories about LOVE and these stories are true-to-life stories I have witnessed. This series will be called CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE.
This week’s story is entitled HARDER THAN MATH 71.  It’s one of the unforgettable stories that I laughed out loud when I heard the guy actually say these 4 words “Harder than Math 71”.
Meet Louie. Let’s just put his name that way to protect their private lives. Hehehe… They’re good friends of mine. 3rd year ECE student. He’s brilliant and graduated with honors in his 3-yr technological course before proceeding ECE.

Meet Belle. Marketing freshman. If crazy and awesome can be combined? She’s the perfect outcome. I don’t mean crazy in a negative way. It’s the other way around. LOL. I just hope you understand what I mean.

What Makes a Guy Complicated

All these times, many would say things like "Girls. They're so complicated" , "They're hard to comprehend". Weeeeehhhhh... di nga...

Ni minsan ba, never pumasok sa isip niyo na, "Hello... Boys? They're so complicated too!" . And come to think of it, girls do have reasons why they're unpredictable and hard to comprehend. Girls in nature are moody plus the factor that girls have PMS periods that even them can't help but hate themselves when mood swings starts. How about boys? They blame everything to girls to the point that they can't see themselves doing the same thing and even worst things that makes them complicated.

The Over-the-Bakod Experience

I was so tired that whole four hours that I was so exhausted when I came home. What’s more tiring was that I also had to go to the school gym for the Cultural Night of our College Palakasan. I haven’t eaten my dinner that time and it was already past six when I came to the school and help my classmates with some of the activities we prepared.
It was quarter to 10 when I decided to go home. I was so tired and hungry. The dorm where I live at imposes curfew and it’s always 10pm during regular semesters and 9pm during summer classes. I had a classmate who had a duplicate key for the dorm for she’s the assigned keymaster of the dorm. She comes home late always because of her school works (she’s a senator in our student government) and she was busy that night in the gym so I was thinking that if she wouldn’t go home yet, the dorm gate would still be open so I went to the nearest fast food and ordered TO-GO meal. It was getting dark so I rode “Sikad” and arrived about 10:30.

Maria Cristina Falls Trip

7-30-2011. this was an amazing day. I’d say I experienced two first time experiences that day. It’s been two weeks already and it’s frustrating that I haven’t posted a blog about it until now.  Anyway, I’m sharing now what happened that day.
Saturday, 7-30-2011, it was a date. CYA was going to hold its fellowship on Ma. Cristina Falls. Of course, I was very excited. It would be my first time to go to the place. I have been to Tinago Falls and Abaga Falls, unfortunately, I forgot to export all my adventure trip photos from Friendster which is why Tinago, Abaga Falls and Mt. Agad-Agad will only be memories on my head. Anyway, like I said, I have been to Tinago and Abaga Falls, but Maria Cristina Falls? I never had the chance to. Iligan is of course the City of Water Falls but of all the falls there, I’ve only been on the two.  Anyway, I can’t blame anyone for not having a chance of going to Ma. Cristina. Ma. Cristina is a private place. Not everyone can go there without having to log-in and ask permission on the office. Ma. Cristina is the no. 1 source of Mindanao’s electricity.

So I got there along with some of my dorm mates, friends and other CYAers. It was amazing. That time, the flow of the falls was ravishing. The water falls looked like soap bubbles poured on a pail of water. I could even see rainbows. Totally AWESOME and LEGENDARY.  Here is a picture of the falls.
After being totally amazed by the beauty of nature God has created, we then went to the nature park where we watched crocodiles rest with their mouth wide open, ostriches roam around their cages, etc. We played outdoor games as well.
I have a continuation for this… “The Over-the-Bakod Experience”

A POEM FOR CAT

A friend of mine sent me this poem via text message. Of course, it was untitled and I really don’t know if he’s the original composer of the poem or what but I just know, he wants to tell it to a girl that I know as well. A girl I used to live with for almost 6 months. An extraordinary girl I’d like to call a cat. Yes, I’m a common friend of the two. A clown boy who faithfully waited for a boyish girl for three years. However, their relationship only lasted for one year. The boy continues to be a clown until now and it’s funny that when he gets to the point that he becomes really irritating, the only thing that we can use against him to shut him up is her name. The girl always calls me on the phone till now. We joke around and just like him, the only thing that could shut her up is his name. Hmmm… This is the poem he sent me.

Every time I miss you

I keep thinking of you

You’ve always been in my heart

And I thought it’s ‘till death do us part

When I sleep I dream the day we were glad

And it’s hard to forget the memories we had

Loving you was never hard for me to do

Because I know you loved me too

But now it’s time to say goodbye

For the love that is meant

Was just only for a moment.

A REFLECTION ON THE YEAR 2010: A WINNER OR A LOSER?

Last year was a rough year. Several things happen. Some of them happened the way I expected and most of them happened unexpectedly. I became a loser and a fighter. I failed on the decision I first chose. Things did not happen the way I pictured it last 2009. Was it really the reason or it just happen that I was so carried away by the present that I forgot to plan the future rightfully? Yeah, maybe the latter was right. Maybe the picture I created wasn’t that clear enough. And then, I chose to stay and move on from all the failures and chose not to regret anything about the decisions I made in 2010. I don’t feel any regret about the loser acts I did last year. Why? Because last year, there were things that happened and they would’ve never happen if the thing I expected happened. I did things that I never thought I could do. There were things I thought impossible for me to achieve but I did. I had a clearer mind and I’ve created a plan. My father said “no one is rich enough to buy back time” and I didn’t want to spend that year wasting my time on regretting about my first decisions. I chose to accept everything, the failures, everything. I chose to move on and did things I wanted. In the comfort of my home, I met several people that became my friends. I forgot all the negativities.

So what happened last year?

Many. Many things happened last year and I’ve learn something.  Things happen for a reason and most of these things happen the way you never expected and usually, they happen the way you didn’t wanted. Either way, YOU ALWAYS HAVE CHOICES. You have two choices. Either you chose to be weak and get carried away by all the negativities or chose to accept all the failures, move on and take the positive side. Life isn’t always ups, ups and ups. Sometimes winners become losers and pride isn’t the most important thing in life. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO ADMIT YOU ARE A LOSER TO BECOME A WINNER.

I may not be successful yet but I can say that I’m a winner because I CHOSE TO MOVE ON.
Thanks be to God for the strength He has given me.

HOME AT LAST

This link is the first part and this post is the continuation of Edgardo’s story.

After being away for several months, Edgardo Aradillos was finally home just last Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Argao, a few-hour trip away from Cebu, a place somewhere in Visayas.

Two months ago, my father brought a skinny man who was about in his mid 40’s age. He was a picture of man who haven’t eaten and slept well for how many days. We only have three bedrooms in our house and only one is vacant but he never accepted the offer of allowing him to occupy in the vacant room. Instead, he just stayed in the small area that used to be our storage area for corn. He said that he was from Argao so my father planned of bringing him with him when he sets to go to Cebu for his checkup and visit to my brothers.

He was hard-working during his stay. He would wake up early in the morning and shepherd our cows and do things even if he wasn’t asked to do so. There were times that when my father lacked workers for their building project, Edgardo would go with him and he got paid as well. On regular days, he stayed in our backyard the whole day cutting woods for sell and for our woodstove use. My mother would pay for the woods so he got to save money for himself. He fed the dogs, chickens, the goats and the pigs in the backyard.  My father also gave him one pig for himself. He planted gabi and ginger at the fences of our backyard. My mother would carry milk and bread, sometimes oatmeal or coffee during snack time like 10am and 3pm and he slept when he wanted to rest. We were happy about him because he really was a great help in our house especially with cutting woods because it was really one of problems at home. Besides, he has really proving that my father wasn’t wrong about taking him home.  He was also a good cook, it was only with him that we saw a different way of cooking Ginataang Langka. We felt great having him around but it was just not right. He seemed to be over workaholic. Sometimes, I would hate going to the kitchen because he would insist of washing the dishes.

When the small barn was finished, he built a small loft and made it his sleeping area. The barn was neat and kinda like Clark Kent’s fortress of solitude in the loft of his barn…LOL…  All the activities everyday was his routine and every day, he seemed to be growing and his face circling. He’s gaining some fats already.

Just the other week, he went to one of my father’s building project. He worked like superman. So workaholic. He worked and got soaked in the rain. The next day, he got sick and of course, we gave him home medications and even thought of admitting him to the hospital because he had fever for how many days but he refused. He would feel sick and then he would feel better and every time he did feel better, he would go walking around and doing chores. He couldn’t stay resting. It was then my brother called pressuring my father to go to Cebu already because he was asking my father’s help in the house he was building and my other brother also wanted him to go there for his checkup. My father thought it was the time that he planned of bringing Edgardo but how would he bring him if he’s sick. To encourage him to rest and feel better, he asked him if he wanted to go with him and he said yes. It was the only thing that made him rest…J to have a better trip.

Last Saturday, they took a trip via ship to Cebu. After my brother took the baggages and other pasalubongs, my father and Edgardo took a trip via bus to Argao where his sisters lived [he wasn’t married anyway]. It was a reunion that looked like a scene in a TV show. Edgardo’s sister cried while hugging Edgardo. She thanked my father for his kindness to him and later that day, my father left and took a trip back to Cebu. Upon his arrival in my brother’s house in Bonbon, he called and shared his experience.

I wonder how he felt about the experience. I know it is heartwarming.

My History of Internet

No words can explain the hassle of my dilemma with my connection now since I have works to be done that really include straight internet connection.

Starting last week, my internet connection had been really rough. After downloading wi-free software and buying it's code for about 12 USD, here I am, still using my prepaid broadband connection because of the unknown reason of frequent disconnection with wi-free. It was introduced to me by a friend from Triond. I don't blame her anyway since both of us experienced the same dilemma with wi-free and she said it was her first time to experience that long problem with the connection since she was already using it since last month and she's a dear friend as well.

Anyway though I've been really frustrated and sad, I chose to consider the positive side and think that because of the frequent disconnection, I had enough time to relax and sit back. Eat, rest and have enough sunlight. During those times that I did nothing with the hassle internet, I got to think, how did internet became a part of my routine?

Rewind....four years ago, I know nothing about the internet and the world wide web. True but I'm a computer savvy. I learned to use the computer since third grade and that's year 1998.  Back in the 90's, there were no internet shops in our small town and my older brother and sister only had internet in their school computer laboratory. Well, what should we expect in a third world country? They were the one who taught me with all the basic tricks in the computer. Being a computer savvy even helped me earn enough for my school uniform in high school. LOL. But when it came to internet, I knew nothing. When it came to researching for school projects, I had Encarta and Britannica Encyclopedia installed in my computer and I was patient enough to visit the library. In fact, it's my hide-out.

Then I went to college and moved to a larger city six hours away from my hometown. and lived in a small boarding house. The small town girl was turning into a city girl. The university was surrounded with plenty of internet shops with hour rates of 10-15 PHP per hour but I really never even turned my head  towards those shops. I thought, all of those shops were only for computer online gaming. Besides, I was contented with my older brother doing the researches for me. Then, my brother bought me my first Flash disk. And he knew my favorite color, Red and it was a bit simple but chic Transcend one.

Then, I had a project for our laboratory work in one of my subjects and my brother was too busy with his work so I got no choice but finally step into the door of the nearest internet shop with my roommate and my roommate's classmate who was and still is my friend too. It's funny because I didn't even know what to do with Firefox and what address should I type. I started Friendster-ing and got interested with the tricks I learned in Photobucket and all the CSS designs. I can say now that, my internet history started with friendster. What happened next was the enjoying downloading of movies, you tube videos, mp3s, ebooks and tutorials of programming stuff. As the years go by, I learned more and more internet tricks.

The flashback really made me smile. I turned out way too far from the small town girl who knew nothing about internet and even more savvy than my sister who registered my friendster account and my roommate who taught me the tricks of CSS...LOL [I hope I didn't sound like bragging]... and it's even more awesome how that small town girl turned out to be  earning again out of the thing she used to know nothing about. LOL

HUHHH...[sigh] now... how I wish my internet connection becomes steadier now...

My Name is Not Reneboy

My mother just found my math reviewers back in highschool. It was tuck under the old folders in the lowest shelf of our book shelf and she told me to bind it all for future uses of my nephews and niece.
She left me sitting on the floor and arranging all the reviewers when a memory flashed back into me.

I was in my first year in high school. To be honest, I'm not that good with math. It just happened that I was studious enough to understand which was way too different with my bestfriend who was also my classmate that time and is a math wiz since birth until now. We reviewed our way from district competition to division competition. We were a team.

I smiled as I remembered the day of the competition. The emcee walked towards the stage and there we were sitting infront of a desk facing the stage. The emcee was announcing the names of the participants and me and my best friend was the last announced. Her name was mentioned first. She stood and faced the audience and then sat again. I took a deep breath to keep myself calm before the emcee would call my name. The emcee mentioned my last name first so I stood up and then the emcee mentioned my first name... She said... " Vee, Reneboy ".

U-oh... I didn't know what I felt upon hearing that name. my mind was shouting. My name is not Reneboy. I could hear my best friend giggling and the other participants smiling staring at me. I turned to look for our coach. How could she wrote my name that way?   I thought to myself. Am I really that gay?

The competition ended. We ended up fourth place but the thought of my name RENEBOY didn't end. I went home thinking who was wrong. The emcee not reading my name right, or my coach not writing my name right. lol...

The Friendship Algorithm

Dr. Sheldon Cooper is one of my favorite funny actors. He suits the role he plays in the television series The Big Bang Theory. It's amazing how people with high IQs can be really funny and the series really shows it. Facts versus opinions. Brain versus heart.

Another thing I like about this series is the collection of t-shirts Dr. Sheldon Cooper wears every episode. The prints are really cute and amazing. From scientific equations to logic sayings to justice league characters. One time, while searching for a wonderful picture to print for a t-shirt, I stumbled upon this photo. The Friendship Algorithm which really made me giggle. Well, I remembered the episode and it made me smile thinking that.. "Thanks God, I'm just normal."

Well, the character of Dr. Cooper is just a fiction but let's face, there are people who are similar to the character. Those people includes those highly intellectual who think they are so superior.

Friendship doesn't need an algorithm, it just happen without you planning. If this algorithm is to be followed, i'm sure i'll never have a true friend.

JOME: Ang Baklang Superhero

It all started during our class in Industrial Instrumentation. We were discussing about all the flows, temperature, pressure, level and other factors in instrumentation and there was I at the back part of the room seated next to my classmate, friend and boardmate...ahmmm[itago natin siya sa pangalang JOME]...

Hindi naman ako iyong tipong naughty girl in college but then I was really fond of playing with my pen and my modules...hehe... Hindi iyon napansin ni Sir kasi panay ang ngisi niya na ala Boy Abunda. While waiting for the clock to strike 5 pm, ayun na, I started playing with my pen again sa likod nang binabasa kung module... I thought of making a comic strip. Siyempre ang bida, ang friend kong si JOME at ang ilan sa mga barkada ko who were on that same class din.
